The big idea

Jesus’ sacrifice deals decisively with the enormous offence of our sins.

Outline

The Jewish system communicates some important truths (9:1-10).

  • a place (9:2-5)
  • an offering (9:6-7)
  • a limit (9:8-10)

Jesus’ sacrifice is better (9:11-10:18).

  1. Jesus’ sacrifice was made in a better location (9:11)
  2. Jesus’ sacrifice was more valuable (9:12-14)
  3. Jesus’ sacrifice enacted a new covenant (9:15-22)
  4. Jesus’ sacrifice is sufficient and final (9:23-28, 10:11-14)
  5. Jesus’ sacrifice was voluntary (10:1-10)
