The big idea

John 21:1-14 recounts the third time the risen Lord Jesus revealed himself to his disciples. What John reports is quite ordinary and mundane. A small group of men spend all night fishing and then eat breakfast on the beach with Jesus, who prepares and serves them bread and fish. John reminds us that the risen Lord Jesus cares for us in the ordinary needs and concerns of everyday life and carries out his redemptive purposes in the mundane and routine activities of everyday life.
